Thanks for your kind words while Chris is gone. And since a few of you asked, here’s the scoop: he arrived in Berlin just fine. He’s headed to Hamburg next. Then Frankfurt, I think.
We both have international cell phones so I can call him any time, no problem. The connection is clear, the charges are low. Thank you, T-Mobile!
Better though, we have Skype. Have you seen Skype? I so highly recommend it (I swear, I have zero proprietary interest in the company). Basically, it allows us to chat via the web for free. Yep, free. I set up the webcam so the girls can see him and talk, too. It’s amazing. They love it. Katie kept trying to touch his nose today. She wouldn’t talk to him on the cell phone the last time he traveled to Germany but she really does enjoy the webcam. Technology is so cool.
I think Mom is enjoying her trip. Charlie has been adorable. He’s very content to hang out and chat with her for a bit, which she likes. Last visit, he was a bit fussy for her which caused some consternation. Not so this time!
And finally, since it’s after 1 a.m., and I really should sleep at some point, I’ll dish on my novel for NaNoWriMo. A couple of you asked what I’m writing about. Well, it’s writing itself – I don’t know the outcome of my stories before I write them, but the gist is that it’s about an ambitious lawyer who has removed herself from her family in order to "make it big." Her father dies suddenly and it sends her back home to be with her mother. Hilarity ensues. Okay, no hilarity. But when I was summing it up just now, it sounded so depressing… It’s tentatively called By-catch. You can see my progress to the right in my sidebar. I’m just over 2,000 words, I haven’t had much time to write, so I’m doing what I can – only 48,000 more words to go!
