Oh Spit!

Can barely keep my eyes open to type this - yes, tax season is just beginning. Yawn. I just love tax deadline days. Bigger yawn.

It was a long day at work. Today is my skewed hours day - meaning I leave for the office a little later in the morning and the nanny stays a little later. The trouble is that, since Katie doesn’t nap, she gets fairly high strung towards the end of the day. And I forgot to warn the nanny.

Gulp.

About twenty minutes before we arrived home, there was an incident at the house. Katie spit at the nanny. She didn’t want to clean up, so she spit.

Okay, the thing is, I have never seen Katie spit at anyone. Hitting, yes. She and her sister have the tendency to brawl over toys and the like, but never spitting. I don’t even know where she got the idea. We’re not spitters. She doesn’t hang out with spitters. But that’s not the point. The point is that she spit - AT THE NANNY. The fabulous nanny who actually does crafts and practices shapes and colors. She is a whiz at the hot glue gun. She made fruit salad for the girls. Gasp. How could this happen?

On the plus side, the nanny did put her in time out. I am glad that she had the wherewithal to discipline Katie rather than let her get away with it and expect us to address it later. I did make Katie apologize, but it was well after the fact and I know it’s important for kids to associate the punishment with the bad act, so I glad the nanny took action earlier.

But I can’t believe Katie spit. It’s terribly upsetting. And she’s a good girl - until about dinnertime. And then she can be freaking annoying.

The nanny didn’t seem phased. I am hoping there are no issues.

I knew things were just going too well…
