Just When We Thought It Was Safe…
Ames has taken a little turn, recovery-wise. Yesterday, she had a low fever and was generally cranky. This after days of feeling much better, post-surgery.
Last night, there was lots of waking up, crying, screaming. We gave her some pain medicine, which we had successfully avoided doing all day other than Tylenol. She was terribly out of sorts.
(Parts of this are gross, you’ve been warned.)
This morning, she had another fever. And then the vomiting started. Once, twice, three times. Then four. Then five. And of course, by the fifth time, she had nothing left in her little system to spit out.
I called the doctor’s office. The official word is that her scabs from surgery are probably falling off. This is apparently fairly painful, which small children are not able to articulate (thus, the crying and being out of sorts). It also causes vomiting.
So, no more antibiotic for today. More painkillers. And lots of liquids.
Fingers crossed that it does the trick.
