Happy Movie Monday.
So, you know I’m working on a post about happiness. I’ve been thinking about what makes me happy. As a result, today’s top ten is a list of ten movies that make me happy - not necessarily the funniest, most well written or best acted… They just make me happy. Enjoy!
- Life Is Beautiful. I know that some people didn’t love it, but I did. It is the ultimate love story so far as I’m concerned - what a man would do to save his child. It makes me cry - in a good way.
- Airplane. Slapstick and silly. How can a movie with Kareem Abdul-Jamar not make you happy? One of the funniest movies of all times.
- When Harry Met Sally. I watched this film about a million times while in law school. It gave me hope that there is someone for everyone.
- Monsters, Inc. The folks at Pixar are genius. Genius.
- It’s a Wonderful Life. Classic feel-good cinema.
- The Thin Man. Old Hollywood done right. I love the interplay between William Powell and Myrna Loy. The dialogue, the clothes, the martinis, the parties, the banter. It makes me smile.
- Clue. C’mon, like you never said, “Miss Scarlett… with the candlestick… in the conservatory… at a party. The overacting just makes it better.
- Legally Blonde. This reminds me of the good reasons that I became a lawyer… for the clothes.
- Roman Holiday. One of my favorite films in the “wide world” as Katie would say. Audrey Hepburn is beautiful, Gregory Peck is ridiculously handsome. Before I went to Rome, it made me smile because I wanted to live the movie. After I went to Rome, it makes me smile because I kinda did…
- French Kiss. Okay, you’re picking up on the fact that I’m a Meg Ryan fan. I’m all about the romantic comedy (done well). Kevin Kline with a French accent? French scenery? Ridiculous plot? Love it.
