Green Thumb Sunday

It’s Green Thumb Sunday!
I’m a terrible baker. In baking, you have to get all of the measurements just right or you completely screw up whatever you’re making.
Not so much with gardening. Yeah, you have to get the basics right. But then you’re pretty much done with the heavy lifting and you can play - experiment with the colors that you like, flowers that make you smile. No worries about that extra pinch of cream of tartar…
Which brings me to today’s photo. It is, obviously, a hosta. It is not a perfect hosta. There are (gasp) blemishes. My hosta has endured kids running through it, a dog peeing on it and a crazy summer weather-wise. I know that the real hardcore gardeners are reeling - dog pee? kids stomping on plants? But those are the risks of gardening with kids and pets. That doesn’t mean that it still can’t be fun (it is) or that the results aren’t beautiful (they are). In fact, from a distance, you wouldn’t even notice the blemishes on the hosta, you’d just be lured in by their lovely shade of green.
So, this is my nod/shout out to all of my fellow casual gardeners, those of us who just like to dig in the dirt a little bit and have it look pretty: nature is beautiful, warts, aphids, dog pee and all.

Hosta is nice plants.
But do you know what hosta means in Swedish? It means cough. Not so nice any longer. *lol*
