Charlie’s Favorite Things

October 20, 2008

Charlie sat on the potty again last night. In an effort to encourage this, I told him that he could decide on a treat if he went potty again.

“What kind of treat would you want?” I asked.

“Cake,” he said.

“Okay, great, cake,” I answered.

“And a lollipop,” he said, cracking a big smile.

“Okay, maybe you can have a lollipop, too. We’ll ask Dad.” I tell him.

“And a frog,” he said.

A frog? I see.

This is vaguely reminiscent of Amy telling Santa that she wanted the following three things for Christmas:

1, Winnie the Pooh
2, Apple with a Worm
3, Doll

Frogs? Apples with worms? What’s wrong with these children?

Baby Doodle also sat on the potty today and pooped twice! He got a Thomas book the first time and a cookie the second time. Then he wanted to sit on it again but he’d already gone in his diaper. I let him sit anyway for a while. We waited and waited and waited and nothing was happening. I asked if he still had to go, he said yes, so we waited some more. Finally I said, you can get up and put a diaper on and then if you feel like you have to go we can come back and sit on the potty some more. He said okay. We ate dinner and he pooped in his diaper sometime right after dinner. I then felt guilty for making him get off the potty when he clearly had more in him.

Long comment, I know, but your post fit so well with my evening.
